You know your computers have one. But what type is it? Should you upgrade to a new one? And how do I sell the hard drives I do have?
If your business is looking to get rid of hard drives, or you have hard drives you’re looking to sell for cash yourself, read on.
First things first- what is a hard drive? Simply a way to store a computer’s information (or data). That’s it. A way for computers to process your data and store it.

Why Should I Look To Sell My Hard Drives?
Maybe your business needs to upgrade. We constantly see businesses running out of space on their current computers, or large documents, files, and videos taking painfully long times to open. Newer hard drives are bigger and faster than their predecessors.
What Type of Hard Drive Do I Have (& Is the Upgrade to SSD Worth it?)
Hard Drives primarily fall into two categories- HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and SSD (Solid State Drive). Older models usually have HDD, while newer models tend to run SSD (or a hybrid of both). Both do the same thing- store your programs, music, files- you name it. But the technology behind the two is very different: HDD is more mechanical, while the newer SSD’s store information on flash memory. Because of this, SSD’s are usually more expensive to purchase than HDD. SSD’s also require less power, so it saves you some battery life. Long story Even businesses that opt to stick with HDD are upgrading to ones with more storage space for all their needs.
What About Hybrid Drives?
Hybrid hard drives are becoming more commonplace as well- this combines the best of both worlds of HDD and SSD. The traditional hard drive can be used for storing all your documents, files, and videos- and the SSD can be used exclusiveley to store the operating system. This lets computers boot much faster while simultaneously boosting essential system processes.
